Taking river SUP to the next level

I have just returned from two weeks in south Africa where o was on what can be considered the first real SUP expedition. The goal was to take whitewater SUP out of the “silly things to do when there is no surf” category and into the forefront of a legitimate sport. And we succeeded in doing just that. We ran without a question some of the hardest whitewater that has ever been attempted. And I’m not talking about dropping into hard rapids for the photo ans then swimming the rest, but actually sticking it! Huge holes and waves, drops and converging currents… Solid class 4+ stuff. The paddlers: Anthony Donahue, Seth Warren and myself.

Check your SUP mags this summer for the full story and the “real” exciting pix that shows how amazing this trip was.
