Made in the USA
At Imagine we truly believe that every country and its workforce is as capable as the next of producing a first quality board. However, part of our dedication to sustainable business practices is to support the local economy whenever we can. While the vast majority of our boards are made right here in the USA, the quality of our off-shore-made epoxy boards is identical to the USA made epoxy boards, so you always get the best.
Imagine Surf was one of the first companies to look into better and more environmentally responsible ways to produce our surfboards. This tradition of eco-construction continues in our USA-made Epoxy boards. We use recycled blanks when possible, and Super Sap resin which is made from pine sap. Our plastic boards are made from a minimum of 30% recycled material, and are 100% recyclable. Our off-shore made boards use low VOC resins and materials such as cork in the sandwich cores. Beyond this we constantly strive to improve our manufacturing methods so that we can be as sustainable as possible in the years to come.

At the top of the food chain, are our USA made custom epoxy boards. These are made to the specific requirements of the end user. We design, shape and build the board according to the customer’s specifications, and this allows us to produce the perfect board. Top level surfers and racers, as well as recreational surfers who just know what they want, come to Imagine to make their boards because no one can beat the innovation and originality of our designs. Because these are custom made each time, there can be a short wait, and they cost a bit more, but its worth it every time.
Custom boards are the way to go if you know exactly what you want. The construction shown is just an example, because we can do anything. A board can be made with carbon, or bamboo, or just plain fiberglass. It can be made heavy and strong, or super light like a performance shortboard. Custom is just that – custom shapes, custom construction, so you can have exactly what you want. We can use Super Sap pine resin, or normal epoxy resin, recycled or virgin cores… the sky is the limit.

Blow molding is a process that allows us to make an extremely strong and inexpensive board. Because of the extreme cost of the molds and machinery it is also one that is rarely used, but it is ideal for our smaller recreational boards because we can truly make a board that requires minimal maintenance, and that you never have to worry about getting damaged. Bash them into rocks, drag them across gravel, run raging rivers, or simply have them on and off your yacht all day long, nothing will affect these amazing boards. These boards are hollow so some of our models have hatches for access to the inside for fishing and touring.
This is the idea material for individuals looking for an inexpensive way to get into the sport, or for those looking for increased impact strength. The material and process makes a board which is almost impossible to break under normal conditions, so it can be dragged about, bumped into rocks, climbed on and off a thousand times by the kids, the dog and all the junk you choose to carry on board. The hollow plastic shell also allows us to outfit the boards with hatches that give access to the inside, so you can pack for overnight camping trips, or carry your fishing gear.
The superior strength of Blow Molded plastic also makes these boards perfect for schools and rental operations because they simply last forever.
This method of construction, using a sandwich cork core and our double I-Beam stringers, allows us to build a board that is relatively lightweight, yet still strong enough to handle the wear and tear of normal use. While this cannot be compared to plastic for all out strength, Intec offers one of the best weight to strength ratios for board building. This is the perfect choice for paddlers and surfers looking for light weight all out performance at a reasonable cost.
By adding a layer of Australian Pine into the laminate, in addition to the cork sandwich and double I-Beam stringer construction, we have been able to increase the dent resistance of the boards significantly, for a minimal increase in weight. This is perfect for the longer boards which are more susceptible to bumps and bangs due to the increased size and difficulty of carrying and transport. It also adds strength to beginner boards where weight is less of a concern than strength.

Epoxy Kevlar Carbon, using a sandwich cork core and kevlar carbon allows us to build a board that is extremely lightweight, yet still strong enough to handle the wear and tear of normal use. While this cannot be compared to the Flux Core for all out strength, the kevlar carbon offers the best weight to strength ratios for board building. This is the perfect choice for paddlers and surfers looking for light weight all out performance!
Carbon has a great strength to weight ratio, and so we can make exceptionally lightweight boards that are still relatively stiff by sandwiching carbon stringers into the laminate. Long boards tend to flex, and carbon reduces this flex without adding weight, thereby increasing speed and performance. Of course, Carbon adds cost to the board, as well as adding performance.

Kevlar is the material used to make bullet proof vests, and this is why we chose this to make our lightweight whitewater board. By lightweight we mean compared to plastic, and while the strength cannot be compared to plastic, this material offers a great alternative to plastic for river running in environments with minimal rocks or long portages. Like carbon, kevlar ads significant cost to the board.
To produce some of our designs we use a vacuum bagging process and sandwich special PVC foams and fiberglass to create great strength-to-weight ratio boards. Others like our race boards, carbon fiber is used over lightweight foam cores. For our cruising boards, we use a more traditional foam core and fiberglass shell construction to produce a board that still offers relative light weight but at a more affordable price. Every Imagine epoxy SUP is made to the most exacting standards so you always get the very best.
