I finally have the definitive version of the 2011 Enigma ready to go… finished it last night and I’m taking it out to San O for a surf. Conditions are small but it’s going to be fun.
Changes from 2010 version – the standing area is much narrower with the S rails tucked in far more radically so you can really engage them like a shortboard as they are very low profile. The “concave” deck has been reduced significantly and is almost non existent though it still looks like it has it from the volume dispersion. Tail rocker has been reduced and shifted back towards the fin cluster, and the single concave is deeper and carried further through the nose, while the tail goes to a more radical V in the fin area for faster rail to rail. The board is also narrower at the waist, but the ends are wider relative to this compared to 2010. Finally the fin cluster has been spread with the tail fins closer to the tail than before.
The Overall effect of these changes is the 2011 Enigma is much faster onto the wave and making sections than the earlier version. Its also significantly faster rail to rail so you can really drive this board hard and aggressively. It holds a better line in the turn, so you can drive and hold and accelerate. It’s been fun getting the board to this point, and I’m really excited about the final one.
Specs are: 8’6″ x 27″ x 3 7/8″ and 9′ x 28″ x 4″
